In July, a new Nurse Practitioner joined the Tuality Pulmonary Clinic team. Brandy Carpenter, FNP, recently graduated from the University of South Alabama, receiving her master’s degree in Nursing with a certification as a Family and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.

Carpenter also currently serves in the United States Army Reserves as a company commander for a 248-bed combat support hospital with 270 solders, which is located outside of Dallas, Texas. In 2004, she joined the military as a combat medic where she developed her love for and expertise in the medical field. After serving as a medic, she advanced into the role of emergency nurse while in the military. Combined, she brings 15 years of medical experience to her new position with the Tuality Pulmonary Clinic.

After receiving her master’s degree, she decided on a career in pulmonology because her parents passed away from lung cancer. She treats and cares for her patients but also educates them in healthy lifestyle choices such as quitting smoking. She loves working with patients at the Tuality Pulmonary Clinic and sees it as an opportunity to learn about the Hillsboro community and grow professionally.

“I definitely like the patients that come to the pulmonary clinic,” Carpenter said. “They are motivated to help manage their current pulmonary conditions, which I find very enlightening.”
