The American Heart Association has awarded Tuality Healthcare a sixth straight Gold Plus stroke award for outstanding stroke care of patients. The 2017 Get With The Guidelines ® Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award adds to similar awards in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.

The six straight awards indicate to patients and their families that they will receive outstanding stroke care from Tuality’s dedicated stroke team. The outstanding care results in a reduction in death and disability from stroke and improvement in the quality of life for stroke patients. The awards honor the stroke team for 85 percent or higher adherence on 10 quality stroke achievement measures over a 24-month period.

“Winning this award six years in a row is quite an accomplishment,” said Tuality President & CEO Manny Berman. “We stress quality at Tuality. This is another example of the quality care we provide to residents of Washington County.”

The stroke team is made up of:

Tuality broke the ice with a Silver Plus award in 2011. Since then, it has been all gold medals. Tuality is also certified as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission.

Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States, according to the American Stroke Association. It is also a leading cause of long-term disability. In stroke cases, the faster the diagnosis and treatment, the better the chance of limiting brand damage and potential long-term disability.
