Why Hillsboro

Why Hillsboro.

Hillsboro, Oregon is where Tuality Healthcare calls home and so do our employees. Find out why.

Sometimes you know a place is home or at least should be. Situated between Portland and the Oregon coast, Hillsboro is Oregon's fifth largest city. With its history, bustling economy and lively culture, it's the place Tuality and our employees are proud to call home.

Here are seven things you should know about Hillsboro.

1. It’s family friendly.
Families flock to the parades, cultural festivals, farmer's markets and an amazing air show held in Hillsboro. During the summer, the historic downtown holds a Tuesday Marketplace and Saturday Farmer's Market. Neighbors line the streets for the 4th of July parade and watch the skies during the Oregon International Air Show.

2. Wine Country is out our back door.
Oregon's Wine Country has produced award-winning pinot noirs year after year. Many of the local vineyards’ tasting rooms are open to the public.

3. The coast is a short drive away.
Hillsboro is just about an hour from the scenic Oregon Coast – a little bit closer to the beach than the rest of the Portland metro area.

4. The Silicon Forest.
Intel, SolarWorld and Genentech are just a few of the high-tech companies located in our neighborhood. Hillsboro is also home to LAIKA, the animation studio that produced the feature films Coraline, ParaNorman and The Boxtrolls.

5. We love our Hops baseball team.
The Hillsboro Hops are a minor league baseball team in Hillsboro. The name is a reference to the plant used in beer brewing, as well as various baseball terms such as the short hop and bad hop. They won the NWL Championship in 2014 and 2015.

6. We’re close to Portland.
Hillsboro’s proximity to Portland makes it easy to enjoy the benefits of a large and busy metropolitan area, without necessarily living in one. Take public transportation or the short drive to Portland for some amazing dining experiences, diverse entertainment and our favorite bookstore, Powell’s Books.

7. Rain.
Lets face it; it does rain a lot here. But that doesn’t slow us down. Oregon’s rainy season provides ample snowfall in the mountains, making for great skiing and snowboarding at nearby Mt. Hood. Plus, our region’s “liquid sunshine” helps create a lush, green environment year round. So put on your Gore-Tex jacket and embrace the rain.
