Billing Services
We are determined to provide every patient with high-quality care in an environment free of all forms of abuse and discrimination, regardless of ability to pay. In the event of financial hardship, we help our patients explore available resources and other options.
Paying Your Bill
If you have a question about a bill you've received, or if you'd like to talk with someone about financial arrangements when considering Tuality for your care or even while you are a hospital patient, we invite you to call Patient Accounting.
You may also check your account balance any time through our automated telephone system by calling 503-681-1000, following the prompts, and entering your account number when instructed.
Deposits and payment of bills may be made at the cashier's window in the lobby of Tuality Community Hospital, or the front desk of Tuality Forest Grove Hospital, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. After hours, a drop box is available at the cashier's window at Tuality Community Hospital.
Financial Assistance
We offer healthcare to everyone in Tuality's primary service area, without regard for ability to pay. We understand that medical expenses are often unplanned, billing statements can be difficult to read and understand, and sometimes unexpected bills can be hard to pay. Our representatives in Patient Accounting are available to help explain your bill, answer your billing or insurance questions, arrange payment options, and provide applications for financial assistance.
What Should I Do First?
If paying your Tuality Healthcare bill creates a financial hardship, it is important that you contact us so that we can begin to assess your situation and help you apply for financial assistance. Partial or full financial assistance may be available to you based on established criteria. Eligibility for assistance is determined through a financial review of the patient (or responsible party), including income level, credit history, existing debt, assets, number of dependents in the household, extenuating circumstances, and other indicators of inability to pay.
For example, full financial assistance is usually available to households whose annual income is up to 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Families whose annual income is above 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines may still be eligible for partial assistance with their Tuality Healthcare bill.
How Do I Request Financial Assistance?
To request an application for financial assistance, or to get help applying for Oregon Health Plan or other coverage available to you, call Patient Accounting. Request to speak with a financial counselor, or ask that we mail you a financial assistance application.
Can I Appeal an Assistance Decision?
Yes. If you are denied assistance and believe that the determination does not accurately reflect your situation, you can appeal the decision in order to establish a second review. To request an appeal, please send us a letter explaining why you feel the determination was inappropriate, along with any further information and clarification.
