Policy on Discrimination, Abuse,
Harassment and Sexual Harassment

Unfortunately, domestic violence, sexual abuse, child abuse, elder abuse, and unlawful discrimination are present in our society. It is the policy of Tuality Healthcare that all patients should be entitled to a hospital environment free of all forms of abuse and discrimination, including sexual harassment.

If you have concerns that you have been subjected to any of these situations, Tuality has trained staff who can help you consider the options and resources available for help. You may discuss your situation with your physician or nurse, whether it’s related to your hospital stay or affects any part of your life. All complaints will be investigated in a confidential manner.

Following is our procedure for handling abuse, harassment or discrimination complaints:

If, during your stay at the hospital, you are subjected to any harassment or abusive behavior; discrimination on the basis of race, religion, gender or sexual orientation; or are subjected to sexual advances or any other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature, you should report the incident immediately to your nurse. Or you may call 503-681-1255 to speak with the Administrative Nursing Supervisor.

Please note: Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender.
