Tuality Healthcare is pleased to welcome Vimal M. Aga, M.D., to the medical staff. Dr. Aga, who is board-certified in psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry, has joined the staff at the Center for Geriatric Psychiatry at Tuality Forest Grove Hospital. Call 503-359-6153 for office visit information.
Dr. Aga earned his medical degree at the Maharani Laxmibai Medical College (Bundelkhand University) in Jhansi, India, where he also completed an internship.
He completed a residency in psychiatry at King George Medical College in Lucknow, India. He then worked as a senior resident at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, India. Later, he completed another residency in psychiatry, followed by a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin Department of Psychiatry in Madison.
He most recently served as the staff psychiatrist at the Oregon State Hospital’s Geriatric Psychiatry Program in Salem, a 28-bed unit for patients diagnosed with complex neuropsychiatric problems. He also served as co-chair of the state hospital’s ethics committee and has been closely involved in the state’s Behavioral Health Integration Project (BHIP), an electronic health record system.
In 2011, Dr. Aga was appointed as a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, an honorary designation for members who have demonstrated allegiance to their profession and commitment to the ongoing work of the association.
A member of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry and the American Geriatrics Society, Dr. Aga has special interest in geriatric psychopharmacology, non-Alzheimer’s dementia syndromes, electronic health records and medical ethics.
He is bilingual and speaks Hindi fluently. In his free time, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and their twin daughters.
