Tuality Welcomes General Surgeon to Medical Staff

Tuality Healthcare is pleased to announce the addition of Robert M. Cahn, M.D., to the medical staff. Dr. Cahn is a board-certified general and critical-care surgeon who has joined the practice at Hillsboro Surgical Associates and can be reached at 503-681-4161.
Dr. Cahn earned his medical degree at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, where he graduated with honors.
He completed his general-surgery internship and residency at the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Department of Surgery, where he also completed fellowship training in critical-care and open gastric-bypass surgery. While studying at OHSU, he was named to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and was the recipient of an outstanding achievement and service award.
Dr. Cahn has extensive training and experience in minimally invasive weight-loss surgery to treat obese patients, having performed more than 300 cases.
Most recently, he served as director the Minimally Invasive Bariatric Surgery Program at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho, while managing a general-surgery private practice in nearby city of Meridian.
Before moving to Idaho, he served as a staff surgeon with a number of Portland-area hospital organizations, including Kaiser Permanente, Portland VA Medical Center and OHSU, where he also was a clinical instructor.
He is a former president of the Idaho chapter of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons and the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons. Dr. Cahn also was voted as one of the top American surgeons in 2004 for general and bariatric surgery.
Dr. Cahn is excited to return to Oregon and to bring his expertise and passion for general and bariatric surgery to Tuality. During his free time, he enjoys cycling, running and cooking.
