Brian A. Dotter, a pharmacist at Tuality Healthcare since 2004, has been promoted to director of pharmacy services, the top pharmacy position at Tuality. He previously served as Tuality’s interim directory of pharmacy, and as a clinical, staff and critical care pharmacist. As director of pharmacy services, Dotter will supervise all pharmacy operations at the company’s two hospitals in western Washington County – Tuality Forest Grove Hospital and Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro. He replaces Lori Syed.
“We’re delighted to have Brian in this position,” said Manny Berman, Tuality’s chief operating officer. “His goals for the department mesh nicely with Tuality’s core values.”
Dotter has previous experience as a pharmacist at St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Boise and the Veterans Administration Medical Center, also in Boise. He also served as a pharmacy intern at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He received his pharmacy degree in 2003 from Washington State University in Pullman. Dotter is certified in advanced cardiac life support and has completed a rotation in infectious diseases. He is a published author in the field of pharmacy, and also has aided pharmacy students in completing their acute care rotations.
Dotter said his department’s objective is “to deliver the right drugs to the right patient at the right time.” Additional goals include:
• Implementing new software since Tuality is now designated a 340(b) hospital.
• Decentralizing service to allow pharmacists to work more closely with nurses and doctors on hospital floors.
• Working more closely with Pacific University faculty and students.
• Optimizing the distribution model through the pharmacy’s automated dispensing system.
Dotter enjoys playing golf, camping in the mountains, traveling and skiing.
