Two Tuality Healthcare employees, Christine Meyers and Robert Powell, play prominent roles in an audio podcast titled “Nurses Lead the Way: A New Approach to Patient…” on the Hospitals and Health Networks (H&HN) digital magazine website. The audio podcast, a digital audio file similar to a news story on the radio, can be accessed at the H&HN website. The H&HN digital magazine is a popular national internet site that contains a trove of news about hospitals and healthcare
Meyers, Tuality’s director of critical care services, and Powell, a staff nurse at Tuality Community Hospital, along with H&HN contributing editor Richard Hill, discuss the hospital’s Releasing Time to Care project, a nurse led lean project that aims to free staff nurses to improve patient care. The pilot project, which is sponsored by CareOregon and also includes three other Oregon hospitals, is modeled after a similar project sponsored by Britain’s National Health Service. The project aims to improve in four areas: patient safety, efficiency, patient satisfaction and staff satisfaction. The results at Tuality are lower infection rates, improved pain control and less interruptions for staff nurses.
