Tuality Healthcare nurses demonstrate excellence daily for the care of patients in need. Recently, several nurses from Tuality were recognized as top performers in their profession.
On October 27th, Sandy Madsen of Tuality Healthcare, brought home the Northwest Parish Nurse Ministries (NPNM) Annette Stixrud Parish Nurse of the Year award, which recognizes those for their dedication, success and passion for patient care. A Parish Nurse is a registered nurse who has additional training in lifestyle, faith and wellness counseling. Candidate peers nominate nurses on the merits of their dedication and professionalism to the field of parish nursing. “I was given this award based on my work as a Parish Nurse Coordinator here at Tuality, serving as a Parish Nurse in my own church, Trinity Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, and supporting NPNM as their Education Coordinator for training, and supporting Parish Nurses in the Pacific Northwest region, ” said Madsen.
Two of Tuality Healthcare’s Nurses were also nominated at the March of Dimes 2013 Nurse of the Year Awards breakfast on October 25th, which is presented by Providence Health and Services, and Oregon Health and Science University. Kathy Gilbert was 1 of 9 nominees for Nurse Specialty and Eileen Portesi, 1 of 10 nominees for Nurse Leader. “Eileen is a delightful person to work with. Always has a smile and a cheerful greeting to everyone she meets. She rates real high on customer service,” said Joyce Teninty who serves as a Nursing Administration Supervisor for Tuality Healthcare. “Kathy is more than you could ever ask in a nurse,” said Teninty. “She has a great personality, is friendly, kind, compassionate and fun to be around.”
The March of Dimes Nurse of the Year award seeks to honor Oregon nurses in 17 categories, ranging from distinguished nurse, community health, emergency, mental health, among many more. Out of the 17 categories, there were 364 nominees, 150 finalists and 16 winners. In 2012, Leda Garside of Tuality Healthcare won the Distinguished Nurse of the Year Award.
