Patients who patronize the Tuality Forest Grove Hospital will find some changes in patient flow starting in October. The biggest change will involve patients seeking laboratory blood work.
Beginning Oct. 7, patients will have their blood drawn by a trained emergency room technician in the hospital’s emergency department. Previously, blood draws were handled by phlebotomists working out of the small laboratory location near the main entrance in the morning and by emergency room technicians in the afternoon. To access the new blood draw location, patients should enter the hospital through the Emergency Department entrance, not the main entrance. Personnel at both entrances will have a convenient map of the hospital showing patients the new locations.
To help with this transition, hospital administrators have decided to move Admitting Desk employees from the main entrance to the emergency department entrance. Patients seeking emergency room help, lab work, X-rays or sleep studies should enter the hospital through the emergency department entrance. The main entrance will be utilized principally for patients seeking access to other services in the hospital including the outpatient Geriatric Psychiatry services and the Raines Dialysis Center.
Hours for laboratory work will remain the same: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, closed for lunch, 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m.; 8 a.m.-noon on Saturday.
