Tuality Healthcare, The Human Bean coffee shops in Hillsboro and Cornelius, and Century High School, are teaming up to promote October as Breast Cancer Awareness month as well as raise money to help support cancer services in western Washington County.
On Friday, Oct. 19, The Human Bean will play host to its annual “Coffee for a Cure” event with proceeds from sales throughout the day to be donated to the Tuality/OHSU Cancer Center. The event includes beverages and pastries at its two locations – 998 SE Oak St., Hillsboro, and 2355 E. Baseline Rd., Cornelius.
The “Think Pink” event hosted by Century High School will take place from October 15 – 19. Cheerleaders will be encouraging coin jar donations, football players will be decked in pink, and Breast Cancer awareness merchandise will be available for purchase. Football fans are also encouraged to attend the Century vs. Tualatin high school football game at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19 at Hillsboro Stadium to help in the fight against breast cancer. Proceeds will also benefit the Tuality/OHSU Cancer Center.
Since 2007, the partnership between The Human Bean, Century High School, and the Foundation has raised over $13,000, according to Cece Clitheroe, Tuality Healthcare Foundation director. “Thanks to The Human Bean and Century High School for their help in fighting breast cancer,” Clitheroe said. “We hope to see you at one of these fine events.
Tuality Healthcare has two unique locations for breast health patients. Tuality’s new Breast Health Center, located in the Seventh Avenue Medical Plaza building, opened in fall 2011 and features the latest in digital mammography technology. Tuality’s mobile mammography van, the only one of its kind in Oregon, brings breast health services to locations like businesses, care homes and other facilities.
