Changes are in store for Tuality Healthcare patients who are used to visiting the Tuality 8th Avenue Medical Plaza on Saturdays for lab work. Starting Jan. 7, Saturday lab work will shift to the laboratory/draw station on the third floor of the Tuality 7th Avenue Medical Plaza building.
The main reason for the change in Saturday locations, according to Cyndi Christy, Tuality’s director of laboratory services, is to better accommodate the large number of patients who visit the lab on Saturday mornings for blood work and other laboratory services. The facility in the Tuality 7th Avenue Medical Plaza building is newer and has a much larger waiting room, Christy said. Getting the word out on the new location is important, Christy said, because many long-term patients have relied on the 8th Avenue location for many years.
Saturday hours will remain the same in the new location – 8 a.m.-noon. Both labs will continue operations during the week. The lab in 7th Avenue, 333 SE 7th Ave, is open 7 a.m.-6 p.m. The lab in 8th Avenue, 364 SE 8th Ave., is open 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
Patients can access the 7th Avenue Medical Plaza building in two places – at the main entrance on the south side of the building via the alley between the building and the Hillsboro Orthopedic Group building, and in the covered parking area on the north side of the building. Once inside the building on the first floor, patients should go directly to the registration desk. A volunteer stationed at the volunteer desk is available to assist and answer questions. Once registration has been completed, patients will go to the elevators in the center of the building and take one of them to the third floor. Another volunteer will be available in the third floor waiting area to provide assistance and answer any questions.
